Thank You

I want to thank you all for the opportunity to serve you. It is a true joy to have a part in helping my clients through pain and injury and work toward the active lifestyles they love!

As we approach the Thanksgiving season, we would do well to pause and remember all that has gotten us through another unusual year. Mental health and physical health go hand in hand, which makes counting our blessings and focusing on the good all the more important this year.

Healing from an injury, recovering from a surgery, or overall strengthening can take a toll on us. We can get caught up in the progress we had expected ourselves to make or comparing our situation to others.

Healing from injury, recovering from surgery, or building strength can take a toll on us. We can get so caught up in the progress we made or didn’t make, or in comparing ourselves to others, that we can actually impede the progress! Researchers Gouin and Kiecolt-Glaser found that a negative mindset actually slows down the healing process.

“Converging and replicated evidence from experimental and clinical models of wound healing indicate that psychological stress leads to clinically relevant delays in wound healing.” – Gouin JP, Kiecolt-Glaser JK. The impact of psychological stress on wound healing: methods and mechanisms. Immunol Allergy Clin North Am. 2011;31(1):81-93. doi:10.1016/j.iac.2010.09.010

So as we celebrate this Thanksgiving season, let’s remember to be thankful for our amazing minds and bodies that serve us so faithfully. And we would do well to be grateful for where we happen to be right now . . . whether that’s in recovery, training, or wherever we are in this moment . . . and improve our minds and bodies by maintaining an attitude of gratitude!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Patients often have to wait weeks or months to gain access to providers—long enough for conditions to move from acute to chronic.  I bring physical therapy to you, to meet your wellness goals with the convenience of a mobile service that comes to your home or office.  My goal in delivering you personalized one-on-one care is for you to have a pain-free and healthy lifestyle.  I provide a mobile physical therapy experience to Northern New Jersey and New York City that empowers, educates, and restores balanced healthy movement without the drive to appointments, having to re-schedule your day, or cope with crowds and traffic. – Jim Palmer, Physical Therapist

What clients are saying…..

I started PT with Jim over FaceTime in the height of COVID. I have done a lot of PT, but this is the first PT that feels function oriented and strength building. Jim is encouraging and affable. He is always ready to cheer on my small wins! I highly recommend seeing Jim in-person or online!

Working with Dr. Palmer has been a pleasure. He took time up front to understand my injury, assess where I was stronger and where I was weaker and to talk through what I wanted to achieve. I can’t speak highly enough of Jim. He’s both technically excellent as well as just a genuinely nice person.

…. After listening intently to my symptoms and doing some manual tests, Jim realized I had a different injury than the doctor had prescribed.  He recommended fresh strengthening exercises which, combined with his stretching, improved my condition quickly.  Jim also set me up for lasting relief by teaching me how to address the pain if/when it arises again.
